THANK YOU, you have taken the first step in rehoming a very deserving pet.
Adopting from Jasper’s Animal Shelter? Firstly, THANK YOU. You have taken the first step in rehoming a very deserving pet.
Jasper’s Utila Animal Shelter is a small, privately funded shelter, mainly run by volunteers. Much as we would like to, we don’t have the capacity to take care of every animal whose owners do not want to or cannot, for one reason or another, care for them any longer. Becuse of this, our shelter has a ‘no kill’ policy and tries to finds a home for every animal in need that comes through our door. Some of them live at our shelter and others are fostered until they can find their forever home.
There are not enough homes for all the animals that are born on our planet every year. Each year, 8 to 12 million dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are euthanized all over the world because there are simply not enough homes for them. 6–8 million animals end up in shelters all over the world each year, half of which will probably not be adopted. By adopting from Jasper’s Animal Shelter, you can make a difference.
Shelters can provide advice on making your relationship with your pet the best it can be for the rest of their life.
If you are on the Island of Utila, please visit the shelter if you are thinking of adding a pet to your home. By doing this, you can help break the overpopulation cycle.
If you are visiting us virtually from somewhere else in the world, we can help you find your forever friend too.
